With all the choices available in the market today, it is indeed easy to find the tea kettle that will not only suit your need but will also match the color, design or pattern of you kitchen or the rest of your tea set. Yet, no matter how popular tea kettles are, not many people know how to take care of their tea kettles properly.
There are some people who make the mistake of putting the tea leaves inside the tea kettle itself to brew it. People should remember that a tea pot is different from the tea kettle. The tea kettle is used for boiling water in preparation for making the tea while the tea pot is usually used to steep the tea leaves and hold the liquid until it is served in a tea cup. Over time, lime deposit build up occurs and sometimes lime scale clogs tea kettles, traditional or electric, due to hard water boiled in it. When you see a ring-like mark in the interior of your kettle, it is time to descale it. When descaled every few months, the kettle will last longer and will boil the water faster.
An equal mixture of water and vinegar boiled in the kettle will effectively remove the lime deposits in the kettleās interior. After boiling the mixture, you should pour the mixture out and boil plain water for at least ten minutes to remove the vinegar smell and taste.
